Proof that Mind Mapping Works

While mind mapping is not the only secret in many of our products, it is one of the most powerful. I came across an article the other day from the website of the master of mind mapping, Tony Buzan. It provides some great research that supports the benefits of mind mapping. Here are a few of the benefits that it lists:

  • Radiant Thinking (i.e. mind mapping) is much better than linear thinking (i.e. lists) at stimulating and extracting ideas from your brain.
  • Improves memory by up to 32% compared to lists.
  • Enhances creativity by increasing the generation and organization of ideas.
  • Increases learning because it is fun.
  • Clarifies context thereby helping with critical thinking and problem solving

The article is full of references to studies and the reasoning behind each of the benefits listed above as well as others. If you get a chance, it is good reading.

New, Improved Shopping Cart

As you may know, we were having some issues with getting our shopping cart exactly the way we wanted it. So, we decided to let the experts handle it for us. For many reasons, we selected E-Junkie. It’s safe, secure, cool, and really easy for our customers.

Note: If you’re looking for a shopping cart, e-junkie is super simple to administer and absolutely looks great.

E-junkie Shopping Cart and Digital Delivery

I must admit this shopping cart is pretty cool. If you haven’t done so anytime lately, buy something, and you’ll see what I mean. Here are some of the benefits (other than the slick user interface):

  • E-junkie is certified by PayPal & Google Checkout.
  • E-junkie is secured by GeoTrust.
  • Instant and secure product delivery for downloads
  • Allows for Package Deals and better discounting
  • Excellent affiliate program for all of our products

Out of all of the shopping carts that I’ve ever seen, I believe E-Junkie has the absolute best user interface out there. You will be able to check out faster with this cart than any other that I’ve seen. Also, it allows us to use Google Checkout in addition to PayPal and Credit Cards.

The 360 Planners Are Back

About a month ago, we decided to temporarily remove all of our products that use the 360 discs (aka Rollabind, or Levenger Circa) from our website. We still kept the Refills online but decided that we all needed a break from putting together the 360s. Although the 360 Binder is my preferred system, it is incredibly time consuming to assemble. So, I reluctantly agreed with my staff that we should focus on our other products.

I had no idea how many people would notice that they were gone. We received quite a few e-mails since we removed the 360 Planners from our website. Now, they’re back.

If you’re curious about the 360 binding system. Here’s a good video that talks about how the Rollabind (360 discs) operate.

The Power of Space

“Music is the space between the notes” – Claude Debussy

Have you ever noticed how much better you feel when your house is clean? Why do you think that is?

I know for me that I think better when the distractions around me are kept to a minimum. Inevitably, if I have something on my desk, it will catch my attention and distract (even if only mentally). Space, or lack of it, is a powerful ingredient in success. They say that it’s less crowded at the top of the mountain. This is definitely true, but more than that, it’s an indication of the power of space.

There are several reasons that creating space will help you be more effective:

  1. As I mentioned before, there are fewer things to distract you.
  2. The Law of Concentration kicks in and the items that occupy the space will have more power
  3. Space improves your focus. It is easier to keep track of fewer things.
  4. A vacuum must be filled. When you create space, you make room for more. If you focus on the right things, the more will be better.
  5. Space gives you room to operate. The room room you have, the easier it is to manage things.

When I was thinking about writing this post, the thought of a single tree on the top of a hill in a meadow by a stream came to mind. I’m not sure why this image keeps coming to me, but I do know it makes me feel peaceful. Isn’t it amazing how beautiful a single tree can be. If you were to put this same tree in a forest, it would barely get a second thought. The same goes for buildings. In midtown Manhattan, a nice sized beautiful building will barely get a second glance. However, if you put that same building in even a mid-sized city, it would draw quite a bit.

This analogy of space is really true for any tangible thing you can bring to mind. Space has power to change the importance of virtually anything. If you have the ability to manage or create space, you have the ability to change your entire world. I challenge you to think about space in a different way. Space as rhythm. Space as opportunity. Space as abundance.

Instead of thinking of space as nothing, think of space as room for abundance.
